Sunday Crafternoon

I decided to make Christmas cards this year, for the first time ever. Maybe it's a sign of getting older, but I have also already bought one Christmas gift, and December is still a few days off! How smug am I right now??!

The cards are still a work in progress, but I will share them here once they've been posted and received!

A Day for Reading Books

It's a blustery, rainy kind of day today. A perfect day for staying in surrounded by books.

Photos from here and other places around the internets.

Weekend Markets

Happy nearly weekend everybuddy! There's a couple of good markets on that I'm hoping to visit this weekend. Tomorrow is Hello Sailor, where I'll be on the hunt for summer frocks! Then on Sunday I'm hoping to get some some early Christmas shopping done at MARKit at Fed Square.

Stallholders at MARKit include some of my fave local artists and designers Dawn Tan, and Beci Orpin (who incidentally has an awesome new website here.) I wonder if Dawn will have any of these new limited edition teatowels for sale!

Golden Days

Aah Golden Summer days! Here are some pics from my weekend of sun and epic bike riding, taken using my Golden Half camera.

Cool stuff

Ooh how I love stuff! Here are a few things that I've currently got my eye on.

Holiday Postcarden from Third Drawer Down - comes with a pack of seeds to add water to, which then grow into a miniature cress garden! Sit it on your kitchen windowsill to be harvested for cress sandwiches!

Big stuff! I love the corn cob stool - also from Third Drawer Down.

Lucy Folk's 'Taqueria' jewellery range. You can get an idea of how big the pieces are in the above photo of Lucy, from her jewellery launch which included a giant gold taco!

I've just realised that all this stuff is food related, and now I feel like eating Mexican food, mmmm tacos…

Summer time

Summer means iceblocks, fish n' chips, and bike rides and picnics with awesome friends! Top two pics are from here and here

Something about this song and video by The Naked and Famous makes me feel really excited about Summertime!

Monday monday

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was spent reading the new Frankie publication, Spaces, and going on an epic bike ride! I've been dying to get my hands on Spaces, and it did not disappoint. And the bike ride was one of the best things I've ever done - definitely deserving of a post all of it's own, which will be coming soon!

Some Spaces highlights - artist/illustrator Rob Ryan and typographer/designer Jessica Hische showing off her awesome 'type' tattoo. So many talented, creative people in here, I can't recommend it enough!

Sneak peeks from the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail. More coming soon!

Sweet Mobile

I saw these mobiles on lovelorn unicorn (my current fave blog) and instantly fell for the cuteness!

I like the icecream one the best, though the one named 'Mobile Phones' is a close second for the name alone. I think you can guess which one that is… These are all available from here.

Golden Almost Halfs

Since getting my new Golden Half camera I've been so excited about sharing some snaps with you all! However, I have been having the worst run of luck with film cameras lately - the last three rolls that I've taken to get developed have all had mysterious problems with them, meaning that none of my snaps have come out. The first two were taken using my trusty $15 camera, which I've never had any problems with before. I was using a super cheap brand of film, so for now I am blaming that. Then, the first roll I shot with my new Golden Half came out all grey and grainy - which I've been told was due to the film being quite old (it was a free roll of film that came with the camera). I know I'm not the first person to experience such problems with film, but it is such a bummer. As the Aussies say, "I was devo".

So then, yesterday I got my second roll of Golden Half film developed, and Good Grief! The photo lab I went to had split all the photos into single shots. The whole point of the Golden Half is that it takes half frame pictures, so each shot contains two images, like a diptych, and is separated by a black line. Instead of this the shots had all been separated. So frustrating! But I guess that at least I know now that the camera does work. Below are some of the pics I got, which I have tweaked myself because I am ridiculous and wanted to show them in the diptych format! (I held back from photoshopping in the black dividing line that should be there too).

If you'd like to see some examples of how Golden Half shots look when properly developed there are some beautiful images here on neonsleep.

All you need is…

I love this photo that itunes are using to advertise the fact that they are now selling Beatles tunes!

Although I think this is my favourite as it combines two of my favourite things: bike riding + Beatles:

In my dreams I am riding along too - "I'm coming up behind you Paul!"

Scrapbooked

I love to peek at what people collect to inspire them. Pinboards, notebooks, diaries, and these beautiful scrapbooks become works of art in themselves!
